Dormer or roof window: what suits your attic?

A roof window gives daylight and is a simple, low-maintenance job. A dormer gives standing height and usable floor area, but has considerably more connections that have to stay watertight and more often needs a permit.

Bargeboard: the part that holds your roof in place

The bargeboard is the finish along the side of a roof slope, at a gable or a roof overhang. It closes off the edge so the wind cannot get under the tiles, which makes it one of the most important parts of the roof in a storm.
