What happens during a roof inspection?

A good roof inspection ends with clarity, not with pressure.

Many people put off an inspection because they do not know what to expect. In practice it is a calm visit: together with my colleagues I look at the roof, we show you what we see and tell you what is needed. You then decide for yourself what to do.

This is how it works, in four steps.

Four steps of a roof inspection

1

The appointment. You call, send a WhatsApp or fill in the form. I reply the same day and we arrange a time.

2

The check. Together with my colleagues I go over the roof and look at the roofing, the junctions, the ridge, the gutters and, where possible, the attic from the inside.

3

The explanation. I show you what I see and tell you honestly what is fine, what can wait and what needs attention now.

4

The quote. If work is needed, you get a clear quote with a fixed price up front.

“You decide for yourself what you do. I just tell you what is needed.”

What you prepare yourself

Make sure I can get to the roof and that you know where you see problems, such as damp patches or a leak. Photos of the spot help.

Have you had roof work done before? Then have the paperwork and guarantees ready. Also read guarantees on roof work.

Book your free inspection

I come round with my colleagues with no obligation and tell you honestly what your roof needs. Then you decide for yourself.

What happens if you do not have it done

1

Small defects go unnoticed. A loose tile or a shifted ridge tile.

2

A leak comes unexpectedly. Often at a bad moment.

3

Higher costs. A small repair grows into a bigger job.

4

Uncertainty. You do not know what your roof can still handle.

What you can do about it

Have your roof checked if it has been a long time, after a storm or before you have something installed, such as solar panels.

Also read how often a roof should be inspected to know what is sensible.

What you can do yourself

Look from the ground for missing tiles, moss and a sagging roof surface, see checking your roof after a storm.

Indoors, watch out for damp patches and a musty attic, see damp patch on the ceiling.

Frequently asked questions about a roof inspection

I come round with my colleagues for a free inspection. Afterwards you hear what is needed, and you get a fixed price up front if there is work to do.

That depends on the roof. I take the time to look at everything properly and explain it.

It is handy if you are there, so I can show you what I see. If that is not possible, just let me know and we will work something out.

No. You decide for yourself what you do. If work is needed, you get a clear quote.
